While it might be Christmas Eve, 24 December 2022, in South Africa will always be remembered as the day that Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo was confirmed as no more. The confirmation of his untimely passing came after there was already speculation over his passing as other ZAlebs confirmed the news via their social media.

However, DJ Tira’s social media accounts would again become the official site to confirm the news as it released the confirmation press release following the news already going viral on social media.
Similar to when news of Mampintsha’s hospitalisation became viral ahead of any confirmation on the state of health in the hospital. Moreover, despite the plea from the family for privacy and respect towards their deceased loved one. The timeline has been polarised by ZAlebs and tweeps alike who have decided to mourn or not to mourn the passing of the Big Nuz alumni.

Makhadzi, Afrotainment and Other ZAlebs on #RIPMampintsha

Afrotainment and the artists with the stable have all used their social media to commemorate Mampintsha in light of the confirmation of his passing. This includes the likes of stable head DJ Tira, Beast RSA, NaakMusiQ and co.

Makhadzi, who in the past made headlines after Babes Wodumo suggested that Mampintsha had made passes at her, also mourned his passing. But her tweet quickly garnered attention for all the wrong, comical, but wrong reasons. This is as her post spelt, “soal,” rather than soul. Given that South Africans can find humour in everything, the post did cheer up some tweeps.

Interestingly, a ZAlebs, who has come in defence of Mampintsha and his legacy in light of all the backlash was none other than poet and social activist Ntsiki Mazwai. The vocal activist against abuse against women and children, who has been vocal about her feelings about the relationship between Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo, was quick to defend Mampintsha.

This was off the back of comments from supposed “feminists” and “activists against domestic” violence suggesting that Babes has “finally been freed.”

Surprising sentiments considering that Babes was with Mampintsha by choice for over a decade. Moreover, the married couple, who recently celebrated their first year anniversary, also have a child together. A child, Sponge, who will not grow up knowing his father.

As such, Mazwai joined those that were continually reminding happy fingers who were quick to celebrate the passing of a father and husband that it is insensitive to do so. More especially publicly.

Moochild Sanelly pays on mind to the matter

While it seems that ZAlebs who were not close to Mampintsha or had their stances on how they feel about him while he was still alive clearly have kept mum and avoid social media. Moonchild Sanelly said, “It’s December and I’m going to have fun.”

As such, despite the messages of condolences flooding the time, Moonchild has been sharing what she is doing this December, and that is having fun. But when a tweep attempted to police her social media page by suggesting that she should hold off on the posts as the timeline was in “mourning.”

Sanelly did not waste time marking her feelings clear that she is not in mourning and she will curate her account as and how she sees fit!
