The South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) have come under fire on social media for allegedly snubbing former The Wife actress Mbalenhle Mavimbela, and Gomora actress Sannah Mchunu.

Tweeps are fuming that their faves did not even receive a nod each. It is without a doubt that social media users consistently praised Mbali and Sannah for holding down their shows.

With her character's plot twists and storyline developments, Mbalenhle kept viewers engaged on their digital screens and on social media. Sannah who plays Zodwa in Gomora never ceases to amaze viewers of the show every time she appears on the small screens. Many viewers of Gomora have said on social media that she is the reason why they watch the show.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, has shared a list of some of the actors who were snubbed from the 16th installment of the South African Film and Television Awards. The actresses' list includes Deli Malinga from uMkhokha, Sannah Mchunu from Gomora, Ama Qamata from Blood & Water, Thando Thabethe from Housekeepers, Mbali Mavimbela from The Wife, Lunathi Mampofu from The River, and Thembi Seete from Gomora.
Fans are outraged and want to know why their favorite stars weren't nominated.

@KingSisiwe tweeted, "I need to understand how these nominations work. Why is Mbali  Mavimbela not getting nominated?? First it was DSTV thing now it’s the #SAFTAs16 Is #thewifeshowmax production not submitting nominations or her behalf? What’s going on?"

@Lindi_Sirame "Thando didn’t get a single nomination? That’s so bizarre. Do they submit their own work for nominations, how do the SAFTA’s work?"

@MalevuMandisa replied "IWas really hoping Mbalenhle Mavimbela will get nominated on these since she missed out on the Dstv Viewers Choice,"
Sannah bagged an award at the inaugural
DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards (DStvMVCA) 2022. She won the Favorite Actress award and she couldn't contain her excitement.

"You have performed miracles for me. I have never seen so much love. Thank you so much, I don't know what would I be without you," she wrote. Mbalenhle has left The Wife viewers in the dark following her unexpected exit.

“The Wife without Mbali will be a tad strange because she really dazzled in this role. The move could also be temporary, should they get more seasons. If they don’t recast in her absence, I would want to see her return,” reported Phil Mphela.

It is unlcear why the actress left the show but Phil said "Shooting was not gonna be ideal for her right now." Others are speculating that she might be pregnant.
