Legendary house musician Professor, real name Mkhonzeni Langa has come under fire after expressing his anger at Ukhozi FM's Song Of The Year which was awarded to Khuzani for his hit song Ijele which scooped an impressive 957 950 Votes.

When the popular radio station Ukhozi announced their top 10, many were rooting for rapper Big Zulu to win the title for Song Of The Year, as his hit single Imali Eningi has broken records and has also amassed more than 5.3 million views on YouTube. As a song that was played in many radio stations for people like Professor, the win was definitely his.
As the clock moved steadily towards midnight, the top three was announced and it was non other than Big Zulu who took the number three spot. It then became pretty obvious that the two biggest songs in the country according to Ukhozi FM and their 7.7 million listeners were Maskandi songs performed by Khuzani and Indlabeyiphika.
Like every other year, the Ukhozi FM Song Of The Year which is decided by listeners in all radio stations causes a stir on social media and conversations around tribalism occur. Yearly, the radio station gets lambasted by many people for only showing support to KZN artists.
In a video, Professor said the radio station presenters Tshatha Ngobe, Sipho “DJ Sgqemeza” Mbatha and it's listeners, especially Maskandi supporters were jealous of Big Zulu's success. "You are all jealous, Big Zulu did not win Song Of The Year?" he says, as he proceeds to cuss the radio presenters. "A song that is played nationwide and around the world, did not win. You guys are all jealous."
Realizing his mistake, Professor then took back his words and apologised to everyone he offended. He said he has no idea where his words came from and he does not wish to repeat what he said.
Many artists were also rooting for Big Zulu to win as they believe it would mean a lot for the game. Cassper Nyovest said, "@BigZulu_ZN winning song of the year on Ukhozi FM would be such a dope moment for the culture."
In other radio stations Makhadzi won Song Of The Year for her hit single Murahu on various radio stations nationwide. She also made history by being the only artist to take the title for two years in a row. Last year she won Song Of The Year for Haka Matorikisi.
