In a severely diverse country such as South Africa, one would think that all its people would organically adapt or at least learn other cultures, especially their languages.
It all started with a video that went viral on social media where a white young man is heard speaking TshiVenda quite fluently. The video left scores of tweeps amused and impressed. However, Mpho Letsholonyane could not understand what the fuss was all about.
The sports broadcaster stated that it should be a normal practice or expectation for white people in South Africa to learn local languages.
"In all honesty, this shouldn’t even be a thing. It should be normal. If you’re born in a country the least you can do is know at least the native tongue.,' she said.
