No matter how creative and groundbreaking a television show is; If it doesn't strike a strong chord with the audience then it is likely to fail.
Such is the case regarding Mzansi Magic's drama series, Isithembiso, after falling short with a little above 500 000 viewership. This mark clearly didn't sit well with the powers that be at the station - which then resulted in the cancellation for further seasons.
According to Isolezwe, the current season will end in April 2020 after having run for three seasons.
In the article, it was also stated that according to The Broadcast Research Council of South Africa, Isithembiso was competing with another soapie , Scandal! on free to air TV channel, ETV.
These two shows occupied the 7:30pm slot, with Scandal! leading with a whopping 6 million viewership.
The publication received confirmation from one of Bomb Productions executives, Angus Gibson.
"Yes, I can confirm that the current season will not be renewed for further seasons. Viewers can expect memorable storytelling in these remaining six months."
Isithembiso birthed the acting careers of mostly, Zamani Mbatha and Nandi Mbatha. These two talented stars both hail from Kwa Zulu Natal.
As a company, Bomb Productions has another staple project on Mzansi Magic - Isibaya. This particular project has been in the works since its inception and grown stronger over the years.
