Nadia Nakai has been on the media trail for the past few weeks. This comes off the back of the rapper seemingly working on rising her YouTube presence as a content creator. Specifically, Nakai is seemingly looking to corner the YouTube shorts market as she hopefully prepares to release more new music following the success of the collaborative single with Anele “Ney the Bae” Zondo titled Slim Thick.
Moreover she addressed the contentious matter of her recently trending following her interview on Kaya 959. As previously reported:
Kaya 959 and Sammy T have been the site of criticism recently. This follows after the “awkward” to say the least, interview with rapper and businesswoman Nadia Nakai. It seems that despite Sammy T being a broadcaster with over 30 years of broadcasting experience, proved the point that veterans in radio might just be misogynistic.
Tweeps and the general public alike were not happy with having Sammy T at the helm of the interview. So much so that despite the hate she gets on Twitter, listeners thought it better to let Ranaka handle female interviews in the future.
While it seems tweeps were up in arms over the manner in which her interview was handled, Nakai seems to her a more diplomatic stance on the matter.
Nadia Nakai addresses Kaya 959’s Sammy T drama
Whatever media training Nadia Nakai has received, it seems she might need to share with her fellow ZAlebs. This is as when she was asked to address her Kaya 959 Breakfast interview with Sammy T, she did assert that she was annoyed.
However, the rest of her sentiments were diplomatic and even defended Sammy T over the backlash he received as she stated in part that despite wanting to initially storm out, she decided that:
“I’m not going to disrespect Kaya FM, I’m not going to disrespect the other people who were in the room, I’m not going to disrespect Sammy T either because he is a legend in his own right. But I think in that moment I- you could see I was annoyed. But I was able to get my composure back and think, “You know what, let me just breathe and explain to him what it is really about.”
Additionally, Nakai seemed to assert at the end of her thought that what the interview highlighted was the continuous suggestions of the “boys club” in radio and how that can be misogynistic in its end result.
"I was annoyed."😭😭
