Day 2 of the 21-days lock down concluded with an open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa regarding the consequences of the lock down, from the poet, Ntsiki Mazwai
Ntsiki Mazwai is popularly known for being unapologetic and voicing out her concerns. The second day of 21-days of lock down rather ended with Ntsiki's name all over the internet.
"I doff my hat to the President for his resolute action to save us from this pandemic, and my thanks to the Cabinet and civil service who are working day and night to stop this virus.” — Ntsiki Mazwai.
The poet, didn't wait for any longer to release the letter which lambasted Ramaphosa for the 21-day lock down and according to her, she claims that Ramaphosa was, "never held accountable to Marikana" massacre.
She further wrote, "You have a tendency of putting money ahead of your own people. You have a tendency to appease the white master at the expense of your people. You will never be able to rationalize why you're a billionaire in such a poverty stricken country and we can't point to anything you have created,"
Ntsiki's open letter has allowed and created a platform for people to start sharing their sentiments regarding the 21-days of lock down. Some are agreeing with her and those who utterly castigated her letter claiming that it is dismissive of the pandemic the country is facing.
The responses did not only come from the public but, Thami Mazwai has expressed and called the letter "shocking" and "uncalled for". The former Journalist and anti-apartheid activist has shared his expression as rather shocked.
"I believe that all of you are aware of the high esteem in which i personally hold our Government", he said.
Despite what others think, Thami Mazwai has distanced himself and his wife from the buzzing open letter which his daughter has written to President Cyril Ramaphosa. The letter is focused on the economical aspect of the country and the different socio-statuses, which could end up affecting people due to the lock down.
