Pearl Thusi just had one of the biggest acting roles of her career, and she is yet to come down from the high of all the rave reviews she has been receiving. But no matter how many positive reviews you get, there will always be that one person with something negative to say, and Pearl has not spared the tweep who tried to bring negativity into her moment.
The actress recently starred in an action movie, Wu Assassins: Fistful of Vengeance. The film, which premiered on Netflix, has topped charts all over the world the whole weekend. It even earned Pearl a shoutout from American film legend, Queen Latifah, which made Pearl cry because of how lovely it was to be recognised by one of her idols.
But one fan recently took to Twitter to complain about the name Pearl’s character was given in the film. He did not like that she was named Agent Zulu, as the tweep felt like the name is a little too stereotypical for a South African, and showed no creativity in naming the African character.
Pearl has put him straight, though, with one of her signature clapbacks. She shut him down and gave him a whole speech in the process, saying that he was only attempting to find negativity where there is none. Zulu is a common South African name, so why shouldn’t she hold the name? Her character is from SA in the film, after all, so what is the problem?

She also recently showcased her stellar marketing prowess when she tweeted about the film the day before it came out. She said there would be a steamy sex scene, but she asked her fans not to focus only on that when they watch the movie.

If you’re asked not to think about pink elephants, the first thing to jump to your mind will undoubtedly be pink elephants, which is why her strategy was genius. The minute she said it, she got everyone excited to watch the film for that one specific scene: the perk is that they would have to watch the rest of it too once they got invested.
As it turns out, she did not need to be nervous about the single scene being the only attractive thing about the movie. She may not have done a whole lot of action movies, but from her performance in that movie, she seemed like a natural.
She is going places, and as one fan suggested, international film executives must have seen her excellence in that role, and will certainly be knocking on her door soon enough. We cannot wait to see her take the world by storm. It is time!
