According to the Daily Sun, Sfiso’s wife Ayanda, who is also his manager, confirmed: “Sfiso will not attend the event. We are not going to reveal the reason.”
But a source told the newspaper that Ayanda and Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, the founder of World Gospel Powerhouse which organises the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, are not on good terms.
“Those two do not get along. I doubt this has anything to do with the awards. I think it is a personal rivalry between Ayanda and Zanele,” said the insider.
Sfiso was nominated for five Crown Gospel Music Awards in 2011 but failed to take home a single gong.
He after this disappointing evening resolutely stated that he doesn’t want anything more to do with the awards, but nevertheless participated again in 2013 when he was nominated for an award in the Best DVD category.
The singer did not, however, win anything that year either.
