Following Sonia Mbele's statement addressing the abuse allegations leveled against her son Donell Mbele, Shauwn Mkhize started trending. This is because of the difference in responses from both the mothers after their sons are embroiled in abuse scandals.
Sonia Mbele expressed heartbreak after her son Donell got outed as an abuser by his girlfriend. She said she wants her son to face the music which includes therapy and healing amongst other things.
This statement is quite different from the one Shauwn Mkhize released, addressing Andile Mpisane's abuse scandal. Chairman was accused of abusing his baby mama Sithelo Shozi and she too had proof of this.
However, her statement rather denied the abuse allegations and set social media in a frenzy.
When Sithelo accused Andile of abuse and said he would sometimes do it in front of his family, Shauwn Mkhize said.
“I have been made aware of allegations made against my son, Andile Mpisane by Sithole Shozi on her Instagram account,” the statement reads. She continued, “I do not take lightly these accusations given my history and strong stance against gender-based violence. I do not and will never condone violence in any form or nature.”
“I would like to categorically state that neither myself nor my family have been witness to any alleged abuse. These allegations are false and defamatory,” read part of the statement.
Following the statement, she kind of threw shade at Sithelo and said: "President reporting for football duties. One thing about me, I will always keep it moving. Quote of the day: Don’t waste your words on people who deserve your silence, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is to say nothing at all. Have a great Thursday fam." she wrote.
Sithelo has taken to Twitter to praise Sonia for the way she publicly handled this.
Sonia Mbele on the other hand said she found out about Donell's shenanigans on social media and vowed to allow the law to take its course. She also said she does not condone what he did and would not allow herself to raise a man who is as abusive as his father.
"I do not stand for, support or condone such [a] stance. These are struggles I've spoken about extensively in my early career to encourage other women in similar situations."
"I not only welcomed Reokeditswe Makete into my home but I treated her as a daughter and I worked with her in support of her career in the entertainment industry, and right now I would like to reassure her that she still has my love and full support.
"As a mother I wish she had come to me to inform me on what was going on because finding out on social media broke my heart. I've always been there, I've always been supportive," she added.
"I now realise I should have taken preventative measures much earlier such as counseling and/or child therapy, but sometimes the mistake we tend to make as African single mothers is to assume and hope things will work out for the best meanwhile certain past behaviors can affect generations to come. "
"With that said Donell will face his demons and take accountability for his actions and let the law take its course. I refuse to raise a man like his father. Rehab, therapy and internal healing will prevail," she concluded and also thanked South Africans.
Mzansi has since dragged Shauwn Mkhize for filth:
