After failing to appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Friday an arrest warrant has been issued for media personality Somizi Mhlongo.
The Metro FM presenter was meant to appear in court for the contravention of the disaster management act case, the matter has been once again postponed.
The case will now be back in court on July 23.
Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority Spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed to Sunday World that the matter has been postponed for further investigation and outcome of representations submitted to the public prosecution by Somizi's lawyer.
“He didn’t appear in court in person. As per procedure, a warrant was issued but stayed till his next court date,” she told the publication.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula in April laid a complaint against Somizi after he claimed on an Instagram Live that the minister told him that the national lockdown would be extended.
Somizi later changed his statement and said that he was joking and that Mbalula, who is also his friend had not told him anything.
