Kanye West in his defense, name dropped Trevor Noah and South Africans are not loving this.
Taking to Instagram, Kanye West west slammed the people who found his choice to wear the hoodie offensive.
Despite numerous celebs calling the rapper out, he told Vogue fashion editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who also called him out, that she should ask Trevor Noah.
Kanye then deleted some of his IG posts and resulted in reaching a certain agreement with Gabriella. He said they met over dinner and ironed things out. But that did not stop him from throwing jabs at Trevor Noah.
In uppercase letters, Kanye wrote:
“GABBY IS MY SISTER.
“I’M NOT LETTING PEOPLE GO TO BED THINKING I DIDN’T MEET WITH GABRIELLE AT 5 PM TODAY FOR 2 HOURS THEN WE WENT TO DINNER AT FERDIE. IT FELT LIKE SHE WAS BEING USED LIKE TREVOR NOAH AND OTHER BLACK PEOPLE TO SPEAK ON MY EXPRESSION.
“SHE EXPRESSED THAT HER COMPANY DID NOT INSTRUCT HER TO SPEAK ON MY T-SHIRT EXPRESSION. WE APOLOGIZED TO EACH OTHER FOR THE WAY WE MADE EACH OTHER FEEL WE ACTUALLY GOT ALONG AND HAVE BOTH EXPERIENCED THE FIGHT FOR ACCEPTANCE IN A WORLD THAT’S NOT OUR OWN. SHE DISAGREED I DISAGREED WE DISAGREED”.
This is not the first time Kanye there shade at Trevor. He did so when Trevor called him out for acting weird when it came to his wife Kim Kardashian.
Trevor likened what Kanye was doing to his own experience with abusive ex lovers. He said this could have dangerous outcomes.
“What we’re seeing is one of the most powerful, richest women in the world unable to get her ex to stop texting her, to stop chasing after her, to stop harassing her. Think about how powerful Kim Kardashian is, and she can’t get that to happen”.
“I grew up my whole life in an abusive household. One of the things I found most interesting was how many people told my mom that she was overreacting. People told my mom to calm down…
“Once we went to the police station and they asked my mom: ‘But did you talk back?’ Is that why you’re here? What did you say to him? You see a world where women are questioned for what is happening to them as opposed to people questioning what is happening to them.
“I’m not saying Kanye will [do that]...But as a society, we have to ask ourselves questions. Do we wish to stand by and watch a car crash when we thought we saw it coming? Or do we at least want to say, ‘Slow down, let’s all put our hazards on, because there’s a storm coming and shit might go down.’”
“If Kim Kardashian cannot escape this, then what chance do normal women have?”
Kanye clapped back with a racial slur and called Trevor a "coon."
