South Africa’s golden boy Trevor Noah was recently back in the country. We all saw him waving his hand in parliament and felt pride for the great moves he is making. In a behind the scenes snippet from his show he shared how surreal the moment actually was.
Trevor recalls how a friend called informing him that the president wanted to meet him. In disbelief he said, “the president of what?”, as he mentions in the snippet that he couldn’t believe that the president of our nation actually wanted to meet him.
Trevor invited two of his friends Sizwe Dhlomo and Khaya Dlanga forgetting to inform them of who they were about to meet.
Sizwe was not prepared for the impromptu meet up and was dressed in a hoodie. He shared a video of his apology to the president in a funny post on Instagram.
Trevor went on to describe the president as being “very cool” and down to earth.
The daily show host also partook in the presidential walk and was introduced to the parliament as a guest of the president where Ramaphosa thanked Trevor for giving back to South Africa through his foundation.
The Trevor Noah Foundation is a Johannesburg based Non-profit organisation that was founded last year by the comedian. It aims to equip "orphans and vulnerable youth with the education, life skills, and social capital necessary to pursue further opportunity upon finishing matric".
