The family of South African export comedian and new Daily Show host Trevor Noah is no stranger to tragedy. Back in 2009 Noah’s mother, Patricia, was shot three times by her now ex-husband and had apparently long suffered abuse at the hands of Trevor’s step-father. She had said at the time that she was lucky to be alive after being shot in the face and back, with one bullet narrowly missing her spine and another passing through her nose and past her jugular.
In a tragic turn of events earlier this month, Trevor’s cousin Cebisile Happiness Khoza had travelled from Msinga, her hometown, to Greytown three kilometres away where she was brutally murdered and left burnt and with several stab wounds in a sugarcane field. She was later found by farm workers and the Sunday Times reported that she had begun writing her mother’s cell phone number in the dust when she died.
However, Trevor Noah has refuted the death rumours and urged fans not to believe everything they read.
Thanks to some crafty journalism my family and I have spent the whole day trying to figure out if one of us died. #awkward

Don't always believe what you read. This is something I learned from aliens when I travelled to Mars last year.
