A lot of celebrities have shared their views on #OpenUpTheIndustry. We've heard views from almost all of the veterans in the industry.
Now veteran South African actress Vatiswa Ndara has also shared her thoughts. The iGazi actress was interviewed on Gareth Cliff's show on CliffCentral where the #OpenUpTheIndustry issue came up.
She said: "I hate that line. Can I tell you why? Because, I mean, there was this whole thing open up the industry, it's not easy for actors. So if you see me in one show, which was probably shot last year and then you see me in something now, we've probably shot that over a month..."
Gareth added: "it doesn't mean that you're still working."
Vatiswa agreed with the radio host and added: "Exactly! And people don't understand and they say 'we're seeing the same faces over...' Do you know how long those faces have not been working?"
It seems like other celebrities agree on this as well.
In an interview on radio 702 last year, Bonang said on the issue: "When Metro FM was trying to replace, Azania who left Metro FM, and there was an open call for people who want to be on Metro FM to send through their demos and that's what we did. People don't know that I lost that gig to Siphokazi January. And, when I lost that gig, I wasn't like 'ahhh, whatever, stuff this'. It was a matter of 'I didn't get this right now, let me try something else..."
She eventually got the job, as you might know. Basically, these celebs are saying that they work hard to get these gigs.
