Last night saw the exit of one of the Qwabe twins on Idols SA.
Many, since KZN twins Viggy and Virginia created history this season, have been raving about their talent - so much so that it was difficult to tell who would have the curtain drawn on them first.
After weeks of live performances and 4 top 10 exits later, Virginia fell short on the singing competition when she received the least number of votes. It was a sad exit for the inseparable sisters but like they say, the show much go on. And it did.
But in a turn of events, Viggy (who was still in the running for the title) announced the shocking news that she has opted to pull out of the competition. Although she did not want to reveal her reasons for exiting, the Stranger-born contestant is rumoured to have made the decision after her twin was eliminated.
In a video released on social media, she said: "I want to say that I've exited the competition. Thank you so much to those who voted for us. I know it's not ideal to ubruptly say I quit because there are some people who have spent their money to keep us in the competition. However, I cannot tell you why I have left the competition but what I can say is that I love you. I love you. I love you all a lot... we will not stop singing. We thank you for all your support.”
The video, which sent shock waves across social media, was later followed by a statement from Idols SA.
"After lengthy discussions, Viggy who still remained in the running after Sunday night's elimination has decided to exit #IdolsSA.
We would like to wish both #IdolsViggy and #IdolsVirginia all the best in their careers as they are both extremely talented."
Idols has also announced that due to Viggy's exit, voting has been closed and no elimination will take place this Sunday.
