Vuyo Dabula played a "thug in a suit" Kumkani 'Gadaffi' Phakade and was a fan favourite since he joined in 2014. We had reported that TrueLove announced his exit from the telenovela and the Generations: The Legacy’s publicist Nandipha Pantsi confirmed it, “It’s true that Vuyo is no longer a part of the show and he will be greatly missed, but I can confirm that there are two new additions to the show that viewers can look forward to.”
Now, Vuyo Dabula has confirmed his exit on Instagram, "In case you were wondering… I left #generationsthelegacy a while ago, what you have been watching was prerecorded something like 2 months ago, my ship sails a perilous dark sea by choice now, do not look back," he laughed.
Fans flocked his IG comments section with nothing but kind words this time and wished him well on his next journey.
"You were everything on Generations. You gave what needed to be given consistently but good riddance for Kumkani yhuuu. I was saying few days ago we can't be in so many years still watching cops chasing tales after Kumkani," wrote @zee.xakayi.
"His excellence the man that makes me watch Generations," said @bujuproductionz.
"I watched because him. I'm gonna miss him. Crush yam since Yizo yizo," @asa_tokwe said.
"All the best for the future. You are a great actor," wished @aupakilehloenya.
"It will never be the same without Gaddafi," @eunice_sikwati said.
"Bon voyage sweetheart, all the best." @adelle_ny.
"You have done a great job my friend well done. Looking forward to greater heights," @oyama_dyosiba wrote.
Vuyo Dabula had denied these allegations before time and time again but this time is final. He told Drum Magazine when the rumours were still fresh that he is staying and the rumours were not true, “I am staying. There are a whole lot of stories around this. It is a bit bizarre, the idea that I am leaving Generations has been preceded by other new that have been circulating that I am leaving South Africa. The fantastical one, the grand one was that I was going to work with 50 cent on Black Mafia Family. It is certainly exciting to read,” he said at the time.
This time, sources told TrueLove reports that he is calling it quits and another source added “He has left the show for good this time, after a lot of back and forth. He has been with the show since 2014 and now he’s gone.
“This time, he’s definitely gone for good because he hasn’t been in studio for a while and his character has been scrapped off, which means that he won’t feature in Season 31 of the show,” the person told TrueLove.
