Zookey, presenter of Gagasi FM’s popular weekday programme, Teatime To Lunchtime, will host a High Tea at Mangwanani Spa, Sibaya Casino, on 30 April at 14h00. The event is being held to introduce the high-profile radio programme’s new-look features and its many benefits for those who tune in to the presenter’s daily roster of social themes.
Also on the cards is a sizzling Emabhantshini event, a Shadows Indoor Exclusive Party at the BAT Centre’s Afriportico Jazz Lounge on 2 May. Hosted by Zookey, the evening’s musical mix includes Live Jazz, Old School, House, and Jazz Fushion, delivered by an ace entertainment line-up featuring The Crotchet Band, DJ Sox, DJ Muntu Jikeleza and Hlanzeka Madamh Hlatshwayo. Doors open at 18h00 and entry is R100 (dress code smart).
“We’ve had great feedback to the show since Gagasi launched Teatime To Lunchtime some months ago,” says the radio host, who is passionate about helping to make a positive impact on the lives of people through the educative content of her show.
“Each day of the week deals with a different theme. Each is aimed at sharing skills and knowledge with our listeners. New elements we are now introducing include a Monday Relationship Counselling session with Celebrity Pastor Vusi Dube who is also a member of KZN’s Legislature and Parliament,” says Zookey.
“And after vast changes and developments in the taxi industry including CBD North and South Beach taxi drivers and Sliding door operators being uniformed, I have a new feature called Taxi Diaries in which we get a ‘Celebrity of the Week’ based on an outstanding virtue of Ubuntu done by a driver, sliding door operator or passenger. The CBD have pledged R10 000.00 per month in groceries, rehab fees from WUNGA addiction as well as social family assistance to the value of R10 000.00 for the winner.”
“Then I have a ‘Zarling Diary’ in which we celebrate community victories including births, weddings, graduations etc. On Tuesdays we deal with employment issues, and psychologist Claire Newton is with us in the studio to help listeners find the right mind set to make the most of opportunities that are open to them while job-hunting.”
“We have also added a new motoring feature in which I am joined by motoring journalist Sthembiso Shangagase. We deal with practical issues such as safety and fuel efficiency, among other car-related topics, as well as introducing new models coming onto the market, and so on.”
Wednesdays see Zookey assuming her alter ego as ‘Judge Gqwethakazi’, tackling legal issues with the help of experts as she fields calls from readers. On Thursdays she focuses on financial matters, offering useful advice such as how hard-pressed households can optimise their budgets to maximum effect. Friday’s weekly theme revolves around pop culture and the arts, as Zookey hosts leading roleplayers from the arts industry, also highlighting upcoming events and productions.
