A few disgruntled fans have criticised Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi over the announcement that she will hold a meet-and-greet with fans near a Post Office!
Miss SA organisers have put together a special gathering for fans to bid farewell and goodluck to Zozi who will be travelling to Atlanta, USA for her participation at the Miss Universe pageant next month.
Zozibini will be meeting fans at OR Tambo at 2.30 pm today, and has issued a special call for South Africans to come out in their numbers to show her their support.
Sounds perfectly normal, right?
Well, a few tweeps took offence to the announcement - particularly because the exact location of the meet-up - is near a Post Office!
The fans were referring to Uyinene Mrwetyana who was killed by a Post Office worker. The UCT student was in fact lured into and killed in the Clareinch Post Office in Cape Town.
The mention of 'Post Office' was probably a trigger for some fans who questioned why the landmark was even mentioned at all.
One tweep who wrote a scathing tweet said, "Your miss SA is by far the most tone deaf Miss SA we've ever had with regards to social issues in SA. First she had SA men write love letters to women, now she wants to be near a post office knowing what happened a few months ago???"
But the tweet did not sit well with the rest of Black Twitter who accused the fan of 'reaching' ...
Do you think the tweeps are overreacting or should Miss SA have been more sensitive to their wording?
