If you haven’t noticed already, Perspex is one of the latest trends in footwear and before I even took note of this translucent trend, many celebrities had been rocking it and still are, but Khanyi Mbau was the first to bring it to my attention.
I remember the beginning of the plastic shoe era when I was still in primary school - well, that’s as far as I can recall - the trend did not start off on a great foot, as comfort was prioritized and the look of the shoe was compromised, I remember seeing people carrying the flat plastic shoes in their handbags to replace their heels whenever they felt that they got tired of being elevated, but now years later, the trend has resurfaced and has been modernised and most of our favourite ZAlebs are rocking it.
Although the plastic closed-off boot does not have good press because it is said to most likely create skin infection if worn without a sock, I have seen many Joburgers rocking the trend regardless. So please take note that if the closed-off boot is worn without socks, there is no breathability and that can cause bacterial and fungal growth.
Well, it's safe to say that some of our stars have been putting their best foot forward with the trend because the most popular perspex shoe amongst our celebrities has been the open toe and sandal heels.
Take a look at some of the snaps below:
As they say...if it's nice, get it twice! Bonang Matheba owns two pairs of the translucent heels amongst her very famous shoe collection, and they both have coloured ankle laces. If you follow the media personality you would have noticed how she wears hers at different events, making them suitable for every occasion.
Media personality, Khanyi Mbau is not just known to be a celebrity who is always up to date with the latest trends, but she also makes it a point to keep her fans updated too, she took to Instagram informing her followers of the trend and has been spotted wearing it too.
Take a look at the report below:
Well, if you haven't already, why not grab yourself a pair...but do yourself a favour and ensure you grab a pair of socks while you are at it.
