“Four Corners is a story of family lost, and family regained. It's a story of hope that focuses on the choices a young boy must make as he's coming of age in tough circumstances.” Gabriel explained.
The film is set to have its debut screening at the Aidikoff private screening room, on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, this Sunday.
“This is a story about a group of young people, many of whom have never acted before, seeing their community on screen for the first time, making a searingly honest piece of art.” Gavin Hood, the director of the Academy Award winning South African film ‘Tsotsi’ said.
The cast includes Lindiwe Matshikiza as well as several first time teenage actors, all drawn from schools, chess clubs and communities across the Cape Flats, SowetanLive reports.
“As it is South Africa's official submission for the Oscars, we are all keen to see how the world responds. It's an ambitious film that delves deep into the human story behind the longstanding gang warfare that has a daily impact on the lives of people living on the Flats.” said Helen Kuun, CEO of Indigenous Film Distribution, the local distributor of the film.
‘Four Corners’ opens on the South African theatrical circuit on 7 February 2014.
