Lilian Dube is one of South Africa's most loved actresses and she has been in some of our favorite television shows including Generations, Skwizas, Intersexions, and Soul City as the popular Sister Bettina.

The thespian who hails from Lesotho is known for being open and honest about her life experiences and what she has been through. In the first episode of Downtime With Somizi, the actress dropped a bombshell that left us shook.

Speaking to Somizi and Mara Louw, she spoke about a time in her life when she was a sex worker, "I am a girl from Lesotho, I have had so many jobs, I have been a domestic worker, a nurse aid, a tea girl," she explained.

She then went on to add, "when you speak about prostitutes, I have been that, the children must eat, I must survive. I have done anything for survival but by the grace of God, I am now the most respected and loved actress."

On the stigmatization of prostitution, Lilian said, "when people speak ill of prostitutes, I get so angry because no one ever desires to be a prostitute, circumstances lead them there."

After Lilian shared this part of her life, many fans took to Twitter to react to the news. Here are some of the comments below:

This is not the first time Lilian has shocked fans, in an interview on Real Talk With Anele, the thespian opened up about a time in her life when she was not able to fall pregnant in her younger days, "Thank God, I could not fall pregnant because if I was able to fall pregnant, I don't know how many children I would have had of different fathers," she said jokingly.

Back to Downtime With Somizi, Lillian also opened up about the painful parts of her life, the media personality spoke candidly about being sexually abused multiple times.

She went on to say that the first time she dealt with the sexual abuse she went through was when Uyinene was reportedly attacked at the Post Office, she opened up about a time when something similar happened to her,

Lilian is not the only star who has opened up about being sexually abused. In 2021, Amanda DuPont accused Jub Jub of allegedly sexually abusing her when they were in a relationship.

The bomb was dropped after Jub Jub appeared on Mac G's Podcast and Chil after he was asked if he had 'smashed' Amanda, a slang word used for sex.

Taking to Instagram, Amanda responded in an emotional video by saying, “No, you didn’t smash me, you raped me, you forcibly opened my legs, forced me myself for two years, and made me believe that there was no way out. The most painful part of all of this was that I was a virgin and I told him at the time. I told Jub Jub at the time that I was a virgin and I planned to be a virgin until the time I got married."

Shortly after Amanda shared her story, Masechaba Ndlovu also shared that she too was allegedly a victim of Jub Jub. Taking to Twitter, she wrote that Jub Jub raped her while she was a teenager and that she was also a virgin at the time, I believe Amanda Dupont, Molemo Maarohanye (Jub Jub) raped me too. It happened in Mama Jakie’s house in Naturena. He was my boyfriend. I was a teenager. I was a virgin.

After the accusations, Jub Jub was pulled off air on his popular Moja Love show Uyajola 9/9 but it seems as though the entertainer is back at work after videos of his return to the show surfaced online.
