Adeyemi Says Ogun Race Set Up to Deliver Practical Democracy Gains

Politics

Adeyemi made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance before journalists in Abeokuta.

He said he is determined to ensure voters receive the practical benefits of democracy if he wins a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly.

In his view, the senator’s record in public service—alongside close links at the grassroots level and a range of development-focused programmes—has made him the frontrunner in the race for the state’s highest office.

“There is no doubt that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola is the candidate to beat in the upcoming governorship election. His achievements, leadership approach, and dedication to improving people’s wellbeing have set him apart from other aspirants,” Adeyemi said.

The assembly hopeful added that Yayi’s appeal cuts across party lines, arguing that many residents continue to rally behind his vision for inclusive governance and long-term, sustainable development.

He also pointed to what he described as the senator’s empowerment schemes, infrastructure projects, and education support efforts, saying these have won broad support among young people, women, and community leaders throughout the state.

“Yayi has shown both ability and compassion. People can clearly see the impact he has made on the lives of everyday citizens, which is why his support keeps growing day by day,” he added.

Adeyemi praised the leadership of the APC and its supporters for staying united ahead of the election, saying his own bid for a legislative role is motivated by the goal of delivering tangible development and ensuring the dividends of democracy reach Abeokuta South Constituency II.

While expressing confidence in the party’s prospects, he urged eligible voters to back candidates with demonstrated track records and integrity, stressing that Ogun State requires leadership that can speed up development and strengthen economic growth.

“As the election draws nearer, we should concentrate on competence, experience, and clear vision. Senator Yayi has these qualities in abundance, and I believe the people of Ogun State will make the right decision when the time comes. If elected, I will ensure the dividends of democracy are delivered effectively to my constituency,” .
