AEDC Schedules Weekend Power Cuts for Abuja Neighborhoods for Road Works

Business

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has outlined a scheduled power cut for select neighbourhoods in the Federal Capital Territory over the weekend, saying the measure follows a request from the Federal Capital Development Authority. The company said the outage will run on Saturday and Sunday.

In a statement posted on its verified X account on Friday, AEDC named the areas likely to be affected, including Lugbe, Airport Road, Gaduwa, and nearby communities.

AEDC said the temporary interruption is required to move key electrical infrastructure tied to the 33KV feeder lines H21 and H23, along with the 11KV feeder H1A, all of which are located within the Gaduwa District.

The electricity distributor added that the work forms part of ongoing road development undertaken in the public interest. It warned that power supply to the impacted locations will stay off for the entire period of the exercise.

“Power will be restored once the relocation work is completed,” AEDC said, adding: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.”
