Nigeria’s Kanyinsola Ajayi and Ezekiel Nathaniel are set to compete at the London Diamond League on Saturday, with both sprinters using the meet as part of their preparation for the season’s most important international championships.
Ajayi arrives in strong rhythm, having collected victory in the sprint event at the Diamond League and then followed it up at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, where he finished in front of Jamaica’s Oblique Seville.
In London, the Nigerian speedster is expected to face a tough test, with the line-up featuring top-class rivals including Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo, world indoor 60m titleholder Jordan Anthony, and the reigning world champion Oblique Seville.
Nathaniel, meanwhile, will take part in the men’s 400m hurdles, contesting the event for only the second time in 2026 so far.
Carrying the Nigerian record, he began his season with a personal highlight of 47.37 seconds, and he will be looking to shave time off that mark when he comes up against a world-class group that includes world record holder Karsten Warholm, American Trevor Bassitt, and Brazil’s Matheus Lima.
With major championships still to come, both athletes are targeting sharp performances in London as they aim to build momentum for the biggest stages of the year.
