Ambassador Names Adeola as Ogun’s Top Governorship Contender Ahead of Polls

Politics

An ambassador speaking to political associates in Abeokuta on Monday said Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola is the leading contender to watch ahead of the next governorship contest in Ogun State.

Why Adeola was singled out

  1. The ambassador, Ibrahim, made the declaration while engaging political allies in Abeokuta on Monday.

  2. He described Adeola as a “tested” figure, arguing that the senator’s track record, performance, and dedication to ordinary people place him ahead of other aspirants in the race.

  3. Ibrahim said Adeola’s history of public service and his links with grassroots communities have earned him the position of “candidate to beat,” citing his leadership qualities and focus on residents’ welfare.

  4. He pointed to what he called the senator’s extensive empowerment efforts, alongside infrastructure interventions and education-focused support, saying these have drawn broad admiration across multiple sections of society.

  5. The ambassador added that the support is strongest among youths, women, and community leaders, particularly in Ogun State.

  6. He also argued that Adeola has continued to show both competence and compassion in governance and service delivery.

  7. Ibrahim said the senator’s backing base is expanding steadily because people can “see the difference” his interventions have made for everyday citizens.

Mobilisation for 2027 and wider APC support

  1. The ambassador said the Zee 1 for YAYI Support Group has stepped up political mobilisation across all 20 local government areas in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

  2. He said the group’s plan is to deliver substantial support for Senator Adeola and also for other candidates representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

  3. He said the mobilisation effort is designed to strengthen grassroots structures, improve voter awareness, and encourage citizens to take part actively in the electoral process.

  4. Ibrahim stated that the group has begun ward-to-ward outreach, with volunteers speaking to residents about registering, collecting their Permanent Voter Cards, and preparing to vote.

  5. He stressed that voter education and civic responsibility are central to the strategy.

  6. The ambassador also said the group has been telling people to register and ensure their PVCs are ready for APC in the forthcoming election.

  7. He said support from the group would not be limited to the governorship candidate, adding that it would also mobilise behind APC candidates across the state.

  8. Ibrahim said this approach is based on the view that Adeola and other APC flagbearers offer continuity, development, and people-focused leadership for Ogun State.

  9. He added that the support group is working to build a grassroots network able to reach every polling unit in the state, with emphasis on youth mobilisation and engagement with communities.

  10. The ambassador said the outreach plan is straightforward: going door to door and street by street to ensure eligible voters understand the importance of their Permanent Voter Cards and their role in shaping the future.
