Amosun Urges APC Voters to Back Tinubu in Saturday Presidential Primaries

Politics

Former governor Ibikunle Amosun urged party members and supporters to turn out in force for the APC presidential primaries on Saturday, speaking in Ward 6, Itoko, in Abeokuta South local government, where participants gathered in large numbers to take part in the exercise.

Amosun calls for unity behind APC and Tinubu

Amosun told those present that the day carried special significance, framing the event as a chance for supporters to publicly demonstrate their backing for both the presidency and the All Progressives Congress.

“Today is very special. Today is for the President, and we all must come out to show and demonstrate that we are for the President, we are for APC. That is why I am here,” he said.

He described the exercise as a reaffirmation of the party’s dedication to the President and of the momentum achieved under APC leadership.

“We are here to reaffirm what we have done, and that is what is happening today and across Nigeria, and we have to come and participate. I am happy with our people because you can see they are excited and eager to be part of what is going on,” he added.

Amosun also said APC members were speaking with one voice in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that the party’s position was unified.

“All of us are speaking with one voice. We are for President Tinubu,” he said.

Lawmaker praises turnout as sign of growing approval

Afolabi Afuape, the lawmaker representing the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, commended residents and party supporters in Ward 6 for what he called a massive turnout. He said the level of participation reflected the President’s rising acceptance among the electorate.

According to Afuape, the turnout amounted to a vote of confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and showed that supporters were committed to the direction of the party.

“I want to first thank the people of Ward 6 for turning out en masse to support the hope of the country, our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The turnout today clearly shows the acceptability of our President,” he said.

Support for Amosun’s participation

Afuape also highlighted Amosun’s decision to attend, saying the former governor’s involvement reinforced unity inside the party and demonstrated broad support for the President.

“I also want to appreciate former Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun for taking part in this exercise. It is a good sign that our President is acceptable to all and sundry, and many people here came out to show solidarity with him,” Afuape added.

He further praised Amosun’s presence as an additional signal that APC supporters remained aligned behind Tinubu.

Ward 6 pledges continued backing ahead of elections

Afuape assured party members that Ward 6 would continue to mobilize support for the APC and President Tinubu in the period leading to future elections.

“We will continue to do our best, and I am confident that this ward will produce one of the highest votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the general election,” he said.
