The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC) has landed in London with a clear message of backing for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup. The supporters’ group says it will throw its full weight behind Nigeria as they aim to retain the trophy they lifted at the most recent edition of the tournament.
Led by National President Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi, the delegation arrived on Sunday ahead of the four-team invitational scheduled to take place from May 26 through May 30. With the competition set to bring together multiple national sides, ANFASSC is positioning itself to ensure the Eagles feel at home even while playing abroad.
Nigeria’s campaign begins on May 26 against Zimbabwe. The winner of that match will progress to the final, where they will take on either Jamaica or India, depending on the outcome of the other semi-final pairing.
Ogunjimi explained that the trip is rooted in a determination to make sure the squad is never without support outside Nigeria’s borders. He stressed that every game and every tournament carries importance for the group, and that their commitment will remain constant throughout the United Cup run.
“We are here because the Super Eagles must never lack support anywhere they play. Every match and every tournament is important to us and we are fully ready to stand behind the team once again,” Ogunjimi said.
He further indicated that the players can expect vocal, passionate encouragement from start to finish during the tournament. The supporters, he added, are prepared to bring energy to the stands as Nigeria chase another successful title defence.
“Our drums, trumpets, voice, and spirit are ready. The players should expect maximum support because we believe in this team,” Ogunjimi added.
ANFASSC members have also been active on the international stage recently, with the group represented at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria finished third.
