ASDI Academy have claimed the Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer divisional title in Ikeja, finishing as champions after beating Wasola Football Club 7-4 in the final.
The Richard Moses-coached team secured the win in Saturday’s showpiece at the EL Cesped Pitch in Opebi, Ikeja. In the third-place match, Blood and Sand Football Club overpowered Zion FC 8-1 in a high-scoring nine-goal contest.
With the divisional round completed, all three teams will earn the right to represent the Ikeja division at the state championship in November. ASDI Academy were awarded N500,000 for winning the event, Wasola Football Club collected N300,000 as runners-up, and Blood and Sand Football Club received N100,000 for finishing third. Elijah Imole of Blood and Sand Football Club took home the top scorer prize of N50,000 after netting six goals.
Promoter’s message ahead of the state finals
Tournament initiator Bankole Allibay said the divisional qualifiers were conducted successfully and promised a high-standard state championship next month. He said the organisers were able to meet their targets across the five divisions after setting out to stage top-quality divisional qualifiers in March.
Allibay added that attention now turns to the November state championship, with 16 finalists set to feature from the five divisions across Lagos. He urged football fans to expect a strong tournament in the third season of the Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer competition.
How the Ikeja event fits into the wider qualifiers
- The Ikeja divisional championship took place after the qualifiers had been staged across multiple locations.
- The overall campaign also ran through Ikorodu, Epe, Lagos Island and Badagry.
- The state championship in November will bring together 16 finalists from all five divisions.
