Dangote Refinery to Deliver Petrol Free in 5 States at N1,075/L

Business

Dangote Refinery has rolled out free “premium” motor spirit delivery to five states in Nigeria, setting the pump price at N1,075 per litre while waiving delivery costs. The move covers Lagos and other key supply corridors, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and follows renewed pressure on petrol pricing across the downstream sector.

Quick facts

  • Dangote Refinery announced free premium petrol (motor spirit) delivery at N1,075 per litre.
  • Delivery coverage includes Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Delta, and Abuja (Federal Capital Territory).
  • The scheme’s minimum purchase requirement is 250,000 litres.
  • The announcement was made via a notice on X on Wednesday.
  • Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria president Abubakar Maigandi said retail prices fell by N125 per litre over the last three weeks to a range of N1,155–N1,299.

The Lekki-based refinery said the promotion is available to customers in Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna and Delta States, as well as Abuja. It also set a volume threshold for participation, requiring at least 250,000 litres per order under the delivery initiative.

Industry-linked pricing actions are gathering pace. The announcement arrives just days after Dangote Refinery stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil downstream market met to discuss cost-reflective petrol pricing, a session that reportedly secured support for another reduction in the retail fuel rate.

In the same context, the refinery reaffirmed that it had recently implemented a fourth reduction in its gantry price to N1,075 per litre. Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria president Abubakar Maigandi said the retail fuel price has eased by N125 per litre during the past three weeks, bringing it into a band of between N1,155 and N1,299 per litre.
