Hossam Hassan’s side have been propelled up the standings by strong performances at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, lifting them ahead of the Super Eagles in the men’s ranking list.
Africa’s top spots reshuffle
Heading into the World Cup, Nigeria were positioned as the third-best team in Africa, trailing Morocco’s “Atlas Lions” and Senegal’s “Teranga Lions.”
Now, Egypt—listed 24th globally—has moved into third place on the continent, while Nigeria has slipped to fourth in Africa.
