Nigeria’s Flamingos will face a tough assignment in Group B at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, after the tournament draw placed them alongside Poland, Puerto Rico, and Korea DPR, the two-time defending champions.

The grouping promises a stern test for the Nigerian side, who have earned their spot at the finals following a successful qualifying run and will now look to carry that momentum into the World Cup.

The Flamingos returned to Nigeria on Tuesday after completing their qualifying campaign in Lomé, Togo. Nigeria finished the tie with an 8-5 aggregate win over Benin Republic, having registered a 5-3 victory in Lomé, the Togolese capital. After the final whistle, the team left the capital at 3:15 p.m. and touched down in Lagos at 5:15 p.m. Nigerian time.

Nigeria’s Media Officer, Dorcas Erenayo, used the homecoming to express gratitude to Nigerians and members of the media for their backing throughout the qualification period.

“We appreciate your unwavering support throughout the qualification campaign. Your coverage, encouragement and commitment have played an important role in the Flamingos’ journey to another FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup,” the team media aide said in a statement.

The 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be staged in Morocco from October 17 to November 7, 2026, with the Flamingos aiming to build on their qualification success and leave a strong mark on the global stage.
