Speaking in Abeokuta on Thursday, the group’s convener, Hon. Sunday Akamo, said the initiative centres on community-level sensitisation and voter education. He described it as a sustained campaign to ensure residents understand what is required to participate in the democratic process.
Akamo said the organisation has been urging people to register and ensure their PVCs are ready for the forthcoming election. He stressed that voter readiness and civic responsibility are essential to effective participation.
He also said mobilisation has already started across multiple wards in Abeokuta South Local Government, with volunteers engaging residents on the need to take part actively in elections. The group’s messaging, he indicated, is designed to translate political interest into concrete action at the local level.
Party support and campaign scope
Akamo said the group’s campaign is not confined to a single candidate. It will, he stated, provide full backing to the APC governorship candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola—popularly referred to as Yayi—as well as all other candidates running on the party’s platform.
He added that the group’s support is grounded in the view that Senator Yayi and other APC nominees offer continuity, development, and leadership that is oriented toward the needs of the people in Ogun State. The organisation presented this as the guiding rationale for its involvement.
According to Akamo, the group is working to build a grassroots network with the capacity to reach every polling unit. He said the campaign will place special emphasis on mobilising young people and maintaining close engagement with communities.
“Our approach is straightforward and proven—we are going door to door and street to street,” Akamo said, adding that the objective is to ensure eligible voters grasp the importance of their Permanent Voter Cards and understand how their choices shape the future.
He said youth inclusion is a key pillar of the agenda, with efforts aimed at reducing voter apathy and encouraging first-time voters to participate. The group argued that widening participation among younger residents would strengthen civic engagement ahead of the election.
Finally, the organisation reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful, issue-based mobilisation. It urged residents of Abeokuta South and beyond to support APC candidates and to take part in the 2027 elections, presenting the vote as a route to continued development in Ogun State.
