More ships expected to berth across Lagos
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) reported that 37 vessels laden with petroleum products, food items and other commodities are scheduled to call at Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea and Tincan Island ports in Lagos on Tuesday. The agency said the ships are expected to berth within a staggered period between June 16 and June 23, supporting continued throughput across the country’s key maritime gateway.
What the incoming fleet is carrying
In its daily shipping schedule, the NPA said 13 of the incoming vessels are transporting containers loaded with a range of goods. The remaining 24 vessels, it added, are set to deliver a mix of bulk and liquid cargoes, including frozen fish, bulk urea, petrol, condensate, bulk sugar, aviation fuel, general cargo, diesel, crude oil and bulk wheat.
Current arrivals and ongoing offloading
The authority also noted that eight vessels and tankers have already arrived at the ports and are awaiting berthing. Those ships, according to the NPA, are carrying consignments that include containers, general cargo, gasoline, aviation fuel, petrol, bulk fertiliser, diesel and crude oil.
Separately, the NPA stated that 19 ships are presently offloading cargoes at the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Apapa Port and Tincan Island Port. The list of items being handled includes containers, frozen fish, petrol, bulk urea, bulk gypsum, bulk sugar, bulk wheat, tug boats and bulk gas.
