Nigeria made their intentions clear from the start, producing commanding performances in both divisions during the opening day of the qualifiers.
Men’s event: straight-set momentum
- Nigeria began the men’s competition with consecutive straight-set wins over Niger Republic, posting 24-22, 21-17 and 21-17, 21-11, 21-17.

With the early lead established, Nigeria carried that control into the second day to complete the sweep for the hosts.
Men’s event: closing out against Liberia
- The campaign was wrapped up with a 21-12, 21-6 victory over Liberia, giving Nigeria a convincing finish to the men’s tournament.
