Team Nigeria has entered the last stage of its preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, moving into the Aberdeen Sports Village with 18 days remaining before the multi-sport event begins.
The athletes and officials are set to train at the venue for three weeks, before the group relocates to the Games Village in Glasgow for the final build-up.

National Sports Commission Director-General Bukola Olopade said the focus of this final stretch is to make sure athletes have access to the strongest training setup available.

We remain hopeful for Team Nigeria’s performance in Glasgow and wish every athlete a campaign free from injury and full of success,” Olopade said.
The Aberdeen Sports Village is presented as Scotland’s leading sports, fitness and lifestyle destination. It features an internationally accredited athletics track, a UK Athletics-accredited indoor athletics centre, and an aquatics facility built to Olympic standards.
Beyond the track and pool, the complex includes a high-performance gymnasium, recovery services, and multi-sport indoor halls. The venue has also staged major international events and is widely used as a training base by elite athletes from around the world.
Camp update
Team Nigeria’s camp is continuing to expand. By the close of activities on Saturday, 18 more athletes had arrived in Aberdeen, with additional athletes and officials expected to join the delegation over the next few days.
