President Bola Tinubu told domestic and overseas investors on Thursday that Nigeria is open for business and that their operations would be protected under his administration, as he marked progress on a flagship development in Abuja.
Tinubu’s message to investors at Abuja City Walk launch
Tinubu, speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima, made the assurances at the official opening of the “Sales Office/Experience Centre: The Abuja City Walk Development,” part of activities to mark his third year in office.
The president said his government is building conditions meant to help commercial activity, medical tourism and high-end hospitality take root in Nigeria. He also argued that the administration is continuously improving the legal, physical and financial arrangements that investors rely on—aiming to safeguard capital and remove avoidable hurdles for firms seeking to operate in the country.
Linking the project to “Renewed Hope” and private-sector delivery
In his remarks, Tinubu framed the Abuja City Walk as evidence that development cannot be achieved by government alone, pointing to the way political commitment and private expertise can work together. He described the site as a corridor intended to support commerce as well as medical tourism and premium, high-end hospitality offerings.
- Tinubu said the administration is improving legal, physical and financial frameworks to protect investor capital.
- He added that the government’s goal is to reduce unnecessary bottlenecks for investors.
- He described the project as a practical demonstration that sustainable development requires collaboration beyond the public sector.
- He told investors that Nigeria remains open and that their businesses are “safe.”
Promises, execution and scale of the Abuja City Walk
The president also said the Abuja City Walk is intended to show that his administration delivers on commitments rather than making assurances without follow-through. He described the launch as more than the opening of a facility, presenting it as a concrete outcome tied to his “Renewed Hope” agenda.
He recalled that upon taking office, he pledged a shift toward a radical economic transformation and renewed infrastructure. Tinubu said the administration aimed to convert national potential into prosperity and to position Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory as a global destination for governance, commerce and modern living.
- Tinubu said the experience centre is meant to underline that his government “executes” with determination.
- He connected the project to his broader “Renewed Hope” agenda.
- He reiterated earlier vows to transform the economy and renew infrastructure after assuming office.
Ambition, location and leadership on the land corridor
Tinubu described the Abuja City Walk as among the most ambitious national projects in recent history. He said it will cover several hectares of land along the Abuja Airport expressway corridor and is designed to serve as a leading gateway for the world to experience Nigeria.
He also singled out the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, praising his leadership and attention to execution. Tinubu said the Abuja Technology Village corridor had remained dormant for about 30 years, but that it is now being transformed into a construction hub through aggressive land administration reforms and the removal of bureaucracy.
- Tinubu characterized Abuja City Walk as a major undertaking spanning several hectares.
- He said the development runs across the Abuja Airport expressway corridor.
- He described the project as a destination intended to draw global visitors.
- He praised Nyesom Wike for driving reforms that revived a corridor left idle for roughly three decades.
