He made the commitment at the formal launch of his campaign, held alongside the flag-off of Senator Iyabo Obasanjo’s bid for the Ogun Central senatorial district at the Ake Palace Ground.
Amuzu said his decision to contest was rooted in a determination to give Abeokuta South high-quality representation, promote accountable legislation and advance projects capable of creating a lasting legacy.
He said the wellbeing and priorities of constituents would guide his work in the legislature. His goal, he added, was to establish achievements that residents would remember for years to come.
The candidate identified effective representation and responsible lawmaking as the principles that would define his tenure, and assured voters that he would honour their confidence if entrusted with the mandate.
Amuzu also pointed to community projects carried out through his private initiatives, saying they demonstrated his commitment to improving living conditions in the constituency. He promised to expand those efforts after entering the House of Representatives.
He asked residents to participate fully in the election, stay at their polling stations through the vote count and take steps to ensure their ballots were safeguarded and accurately recorded.
Ogun State PDP governorship candidate Oladipupo Adebutu urged voters in Ogun Central to back Obasanjo, Amuzu and the party’s other contenders. He described them as experienced and dependable candidates whose records, in his view, had not been surpassed.
Adebutu also asked voters to reject what he called poor performance and choose what he described as “liberation” at the 2027 polls.
He further told PDP supporters to turn out in large numbers on January 16, 2027, cast their ballots for the party and protect the results in the face of any intimidation.
Obasanjo said she was pleased by the welcome she had received during visits across Ogun Central.
She said residents frequently referred to projects and other interventions from her earlier period in public office. Their accounts, she added, showed that the benefits of her representation were still visible, including in stories from people who said those interventions helped them move out of poverty.
Obasanjo pledged to build on that record if returned to office, saying she would work to secure greater democratic benefits for the people of the senatorial district.
Party officials, supporters and local residents attended the campaign launch at the Ake Palace Ground, signalling solidarity with the candidates and the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
