Azeez Ibrahim Backs Senator Yayi as Ogun Governorship Candidate

Amb. Azeez Ayomikun Ibrahim, founder of Zee 1 for Yayi, has described Senator Yayi as an experienced and accessible politician with strong grassroots ties who is well positioned to seek the governorship of Ogun State.

Case for Yayi’s candidacy

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Ibrahim said Yayi’s political career had been marked by sustained contact with residents and support for initiatives intended to improve their welfare. He argued that public leadership should be judged not simply by the offices held, but by the difference made in the lives of ordinary people.

Ibrahim said Ogun voters needed a governor who understood their hopes and was willing to hear their concerns. In his view, Yayi had shown that he could identify the problems confronting communities across the state and offer representation centred on development and empowerment.

He said Yayi was familiar with the communities, attentive to residents’ views and aware of what citizens expected from government. Those qualities, Ibrahim argued, demonstrated that the senator could provide effective and purposeful leadership in Ogun State.

The organisation’s founder urged Yayi’s supporters to expand their grassroots activities before the election. He asked them to take the senator’s message and policy vision to communities, wards, Community Development Associations and Community Development Committees throughout the state.

He also appealed to supporters to remain united. The movement, he said, would continue to encourage peaceful, issue-focused participation and urge voters to assess contenders through their records, experience and proposed programmes.

Ibrahim said he was confident about Yayi’s political prospects and pledged that Zee 1 for Yayi would keep mobilising support and raising awareness about the senator’s plan for a more prosperous and inclusive Ogun State.

He added that the 2027 contest would centre on Ogun’s future. The group would continue meeting residents, hearing their views and explaining why it believed Yayi merited their backing, while keeping its mobilisation peaceful, community-based and focused on development.
