Abiodun aide Delu has launched a grassroots mobilisation drive in preparation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign, the 2027 bid of APC governorship candidate Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayi, and other party candidates in Abeokuta South Local Government.
The Friday event drew the local government APC chairman, Hon. Henry Fagbenro; the serving House of Representatives member, Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afuape; and Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu Ayodele, known as IWA, who represents Abeokuta South State Constituency II in the Ogun State House of Assembly. Also present were former caretaker chairman Hon. Shomide, popularly known as AYSHO; APC House of Assembly candidate Hon. Ademuyiwa Adeyemi; former assembly member Hon. Allen Taylor; Ward 13 councillor Hon. Jasul; Ward 9 councillor Hon. Ninalowo; the Ward 15 councillor; other councillors; and several political leaders from the local government.
Delu began the mobilisation project in Ward 13 by inaugurating 135 polling-unit strikers, eight zonal supervisors—with two assigned to each zone—and four ward coordinators.
Delu and a large gathering of APC supporters also held an awareness procession to promote Tinubu and the party’s other candidates, seeking to build support at the grassroots.
Delu said the objective was to secure substantial votes in the local government for Tinubu, governorship hopeful Senator Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi, Senator Afolabi Salisu, Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afuape, Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa and Hon. Lukman Atobatele in the 2027 general elections.
The aide to Governor Dapo Abiodun said during the programme that the operation would be taken to the remaining wards in Abeokuta South. He added that his goal was to see every APC candidate prevail.
He explained that the 135 strikers, supervisors and coordinators would promote Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Agenda, Adeola’s governorship campaign and the party’s other candidates. He urged the campaign teams to remain committed and work continuously towards a decisive victory for the APC.
Delu described the project as the “Abeokuta South Polling Unit Strikers” initiative. He said it was designed to generate strong support for Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate and other party candidates, including House of Representatives candidate Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Ogun Central senatorial candidate Senator Shuaib Salisu and House of Assembly candidate Hon. Ademuyiwa Adeyemi.
He said the APC had assigned 10 people to polling units at the state level, and that his initiative was intended to reinforce that structure. The Abeokuta South project, he added, consists of 135 polling-unit strikers, eight zone supervisors—two in each zone—and four ward coordinators.
According to Delu, the rollout started in Ward 13, covering Igbore-Ago Oba, which he identified as his ward and said contained 27 polling units. He said the organisers would spread the message of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, support Senator Olamilekan Adeola’s ambition and work for the success of all APC candidates in 2027. “The strikers are prepared to work and deliver victory for the APC candidates,” he said.
Fagbenro, the APC chairman in the local government, who is also known as Agbomola, declared that the party remained unbeatable in Ogun State and that all its candidates had a strong prospect of winning their elections.
He praised Abiodun’s aide for introducing the mobilisation scheme, describing it as well-timed.
Speaking at the gathering, APC House of Representatives candidate Hon. Afolabi Afuape applauded Delu’s efforts to secure victory for all the party’s candidates.
Afuape said Delu had set himself apart through his dedication to advancing the interests and progress of the APC.
Hon. Igbalaye Wasiu, who represents Abeokuta South State Constituency II in the state assembly, also said Delu had made the people of Abeokuta South proud through the initiative.
He said the mobilisation structure could make a significant contribution to delivering a landslide for the APC candidates.
