Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imeko-Afon have agreed to reconcile internal factions and unite ahead of the 2027 elections.
Party seeks unity after primaries
The agreement was reached at a stakeholders’ gathering held at Onimeko Hall in Imeko and organised by Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, the House of Representatives member for Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency.
The meeting was convened in response to disagreements linked to the party’s primary elections. Participants agreed to set aside their differences, defend the APC’s shared interests and cooperate in building a more united and effective organisation before the 2027 polls.
They also called for a stronger grassroots network. Ward officials were assigned to contact members who are unhappy with the party or have become inactive, repair strained relationships and encourage them to return to the APC.
Isiaka appealed to party officials and members to subordinate personal ambitions to the wider interests of the APC. He said unity and collaboration would be essential to the party’s electoral prospects.
He also promised to back the party’s candidates and help coordinate campaign activities throughout the local government area. Isiaka urged all stakeholders to join forces to deliver APC victories at every level of the 2027 elections.
Communiqué outlines reconciliation measures
Before the meeting concluded, the APC chairman in Imeko-Afon, Hon. Ramon Adebolu, advised members against conduct or public comments that could intensify existing divisions.
An 11-point communiqué signed by Adebolu recorded the stakeholders’ decisions. Its main measures included:
- Creating reconciliation panels in each ward to reach out to dissatisfied and inactive members.
- Making the party’s collective interest the priority for all leaders.
- Increasing mobilisation and engagement at the grassroots.
- Settling disputes connected to the primaries and other internal issues through discussion and recognised party procedures, rather than public disputes.
The stakeholders additionally agreed to improve cooperation among party leaders and other key figures, widen participation within the APC and balance personal priorities with the broader needs of the organisation.
They said those steps were intended to improve the party’s chances of success in the 2027 elections.
The communiqué also restated the group’s determination to campaign for votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and the APC’s other candidates in the 2027 elections.
