Obidient Movement Appoints Wuraola Adeshina to Lead Ogun Chapter

Chief Mrs. Wuraola Adeshina has been named the Obidient Movement’s state coordinator in Ogun State, with Hon. Itunu Temitayo Abioro appointed deputy coordinator and Hon. Olurebi Sunday selected as secretary of the state executive.

New Ogun leadership team

Adeshina, an experienced grassroots political organiser and prominent figure within the Obidient Movement in Ogun, takes charge of efforts to expand the group’s state-level structure.

  • She holds the traditional title of Otun Iyalode of Elere Onigbenu Kingdom.
  • She previously served as vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
  • She has worked repeatedly as a campaign coordinator and currently serves as the NDC’s Ogun State woman leader.
  • Her background in community mobilisation and local campaign management is expected to guide the movement’s organising work across the state.

Sunday was also unveiled as the state executive’s secretary. In addition to being the NDC youth leader in Ogun State, he serves as executive secretary to several organisations. His appointment is intended to bring a more systematic administrative approach to the movement’s activities.

Abioro, who is the NDC senatorial candidate for Ogun West, will serve as deputy state coordinator. He has previously led both the Young Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress as their Ogun State chairman.

Commitment to grassroots organisation

In her acceptance address, Adeshina thanked members for the trust placed in her and the newly formed team, pledging to develop a strong local network throughout Ogun State.

She described the organisation as a people-driven movement and said its responsibilities were to organise supporters, mobilise communities and make sure every Obidient member in the state could contribute.

Adeshina urged members in Ogun’s 20 local government areas and 236 wards to work with the leadership as it pursues what she called a better future for Nigeria.

Administrative discipline and team support

Sunday said the movement needed dependable structures and clear accountability. He pledged to ensure that its administrative systems would be open, effective and durable, adding that operations would be conducted with discipline and a clear sense of purpose.

Abioro pledged his backing for Adeshina and the movement’s wider goals. He said his role was to assist the coordinator and help extend the organisation’s structure to every ward, stressing that the leadership team would work together.

National political focus

The Obidient Movement is continuing to strengthen its organisation across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections. Its stated priorities include greater youth involvement, ward-level mobilisation and leadership that is answerable to the public.

The movement describes itself as a grassroots political platform promoting good governance, accountability and inclusive leadership in Nigeria. It backs the presidential candidacy of H.E. Peter Obi and Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, or NDC.
