Ogun APC Leaders Map Election Mobilisation Strategy in Obafemi Owode

Ogun State APC stakeholders met on Wednesday at the Local Government Secretariat in Obafemi Owode to discuss mobilisation, strategy and other preparations for elections across the local government’s 12 wards.

Stakeholders set mobilisation priorities

  1. Former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, called on party leaders and members to maintain their efforts, with particular emphasis on sustained grassroots contact and mobilisation before the elections.
  2. Egbetokun urged stakeholders to coordinate their work across wards and polling units, saying each member had a responsibility to expand the party’s reach and organisational strength.
  3. He said the broader aim was to raise the party’s electoral showing and improve on its performance in the 2023 general elections.
  4. Engr. Babatunde Adesina similarly asked stakeholders to dedicate their time, resources and experience to the party’s mobilisation programme.
  5. Adesina said the development of a robust electoral structure must be treated as a shared duty rather than an assignment for candidates alone.
  6. Sen. Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, who represents Ogun Central Senatorial District, praised the strong attendance by party members and other stakeholders.
  7. Salisu described Obafemi Owode Local Government as a significant part of Ogun State’s progressive political tradition and paid tribute to previous leaders for their contributions to the party and the state.
  8. He outlined legislative and development initiatives undertaken during his time in the National Assembly and pledged to remain committed to lawmaking and helping secure development projects for the people of Obafemi Owode.
  9. The senator also appealed to party stakeholders to continue giving their backing and cooperation as the 2027 general elections approach.

Local government plans ward-based competition

  1. Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, said the council was ready to intensify mobilisation activities throughout its wards.
  2. Ogunsola announced that the ward achieving the best electoral result in the coming general elections would receive recognition and a reward.
  3. He said the local government had traditionally been important to the party’s electoral fortunes and challenged stakeholders to combine their efforts to deliver a stronger result in 2027.
  4. He urged ward and polling-unit leaders and members to remain disciplined, united and focused as election preparations gather pace.

The gathering concluded with fresh appeals for unity, grassroots outreach and closer coordination among APC stakeholders in all 12 wards of Obafemi Owode Local Government.

Those present included Rt. Hon. Olumide Osoba of the Federal House of Representatives; Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode of the Ogun State House of Assembly; Hon. Nike Osoba; Chief Olude, the APC party chairman; and Hon. Sofela, among others.
