A large APC rally attended by supporters from all 20 local government areas of Ogun State highlighted the party’s expanding grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 elections and gave the organisation and its allied groups an opportunity to renew their pledge to secure victory.
Abiodun points to APC strength and record
Addressing the event, Governor Dapo Abiodun said the turnout reflected the party’s cohesion, organisational strength and preparedness for the contest. He said the APC had established a strong grassroots network throughout Ogun.
Abiodun argued that the record of his administration during its seven years in office offered the party a firm basis for asking residents to renew their support.
He praised members for conducting party activities peacefully and described the emergence of Adeola as the APC’s governorship candidate as an important moment in Ogun’s political history. In his view, the discipline and unity demonstrated during the process had reinforced the party and improved its prospects in the forthcoming elections.
The governor said he was confident that Adeola could govern effectively, pointing to the candidate’s experience, broad exposure and years of public-sector service.
- APC members and supporters were instructed to intensify ward-level and community-level mobilisation.
- Abiodun said the party’s message and record should be taken to every part of Ogun State.
- He repeated the state’s pledge to deliver two million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Adeola rejects opposition alliance claims
Adeola called Abiodun a “silent achiever” and said the governor’s seven-year tenure had produced major accomplishments while creating a firm base for Ogun’s future growth.
He promised that, if elected governor, he would preserve the current administration’s development direction and build further on its achievements.
The APC candidate rejected suggestions that he had entered into a political understanding with opposition parties before the 2027 poll. He told APC supporters to stay alert and resist what he characterised as approaches from opposition politicians.
Adeola said the APC had the organisation, structures and backing needed to remain in control of Ogun State after the elections.
He thanked the party’s various support organisations, with particular recognition for Caucus 7202, for backing his campaign and the ambitions of other APC candidates.
Adeola said that over 90 per cent of Caucus 7202 members belonged to no political party, arguing that their decision to campaign for the APC showed their trust in the party and its candidates. He called on the group and other support organisations to widen their operations and engage more voters across Ogun.
Party leaders outline mobilisation plans
Ogun APC Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi urged members to carry the party manifesto into local communities and explain its programmes, policies and record to voters.
Sanusi said the party’s performance in 2027 would depend heavily on thorough voter education, continuous contact with communities and well-organised, disciplined mobilisation.
Moctar Koiki, director-general of Caucus 7202, described the organisation as an independent political support group founded in Ogun to build backing for the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Koiki put the group’s membership at about 180,000 across the state and said more than 90 per cent of its members were non-partisan.
- Caucus 7202 plans to campaign for President Tinubu.
- The organisation will also support Abiodun’s bid for the Senate.
- It will back Adeola’s campaign for governor.
- The group intends to use its networks in all 20 local government areas to mobilise voters for the APC and its candidates in 2027.
