The party has appointed Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, as vice-chairman of its committee, alongside veteran journalist Odunaro.
The appointments place two seasoned journalists and public-communications professionals in charge of the party’s media and publicity operations as it prepares for the 2027 governorship election.
Odunaro has more than 30 years of experience spanning journalism, government and public service. He previously served as Chief Press Secretary to three former Ogun governors: Captain Sam Ewang (rtd.), Commodore Kayode Olofinmoyin (rtd.) and Chief Olusegun Osoba.
He was also Special Adviser on Communications to Dimeji Bankole, then Speaker of the House of Representatives, during Bankole’s tenure at the National Assembly.
Odunaro is currently Media Adviser and Chief of Staff to Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations and represents Ogun West Senatorial District.
Akinmade joins the committee with substantial experience in journalism, government communications and public administration.
He is a former editor of the Nigerian Tribune and served as Media Special Adviser to Bankole, the former House speaker, between 2007 and 2010. He later completed two terms as Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy under former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, and also held the position of Supervising Commissioner for Culture and Tourism during that administration.
Akinmade now serves as Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
The appointments are intended to strengthen the APC Governorship Campaign Council’s media and public-relations operations. The committee will oversee campaign messaging, publicity and interaction with journalists and the broader public in the run-up to the 2027 election.
