The declaration came on Wednesday at an engagement with members of Caucus 7202, a support network for the senator. Traders credited Adeola with visible development work in Ogun Central but asked him to pay closer attention to their own community.

Rasheed Bello, chairman of the plank sellers’ association, highlighted the senator’s installation of solar-powered streetlights in several areas. He said the projects had persuaded members that Adeola could achieve more if he became governor.

Bello said roughly 90 per cent of the solar streetlights in Ogun Central, including areas outside Adeola’s senatorial district, were attributable to the senator. In his view, that record showed that an Adeola administration could resolve many of the area’s difficulties.

He nevertheless called for intervention at Sawmill and Odo-Eran, citing damaged roads, repeated flooding and a lack of essential infrastructure. The market’s importance, he added, was underscored by the traders it draws from multiple local government areas in Ogun Central.

Bello said members had recently paid more than ₦1.4 million to hire heavy machinery for flood management around the market. The association had also been carrying out temporary road repairs by buying and spreading stones.

He appealed to the senator to assist the traders, saying the requested work was modest compared with Adeola’s demonstrated capacity. He also sought empowerment schemes for women and traders, arguing that such support would deepen their mobilisation for Yayi in 2027.

The traders restated their allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalling that earlier APC governments had backed the association with empowerment programmes. They asked Adeola to include them in future schemes and infrastructure initiatives.

They said they had worked with Caucus 7202 for about two or three years and consistently responded whenever their leader summoned them. Members had also been encouraged to register, obtain their permanent voter cards and store them safely for election use.

Ajibola urged Adeola to bring additional development to Sawmill, naming solar lighting, road repairs, empowerment projects and transport assistance for the association among the priorities.

He said the community needed illuminated streets, passable roads and assistance for residents, while also requesting a vehicle for the association so it could continue supporting its leader during his activities.

Ajibola said the immediate purpose of the gathering was to remind members of the importance of their voter cards. He urged them to keep the cards secure and undamaged, then turn out in large numbers to elect Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as Ogun State governor.

Adebayo said the infrastructure demands would be passed on to the senator and expressed confidence that they would be addressed quickly. The requests included lasting road construction and a solution to the area’s continuing floods.

He described those demands as manageable in light of Adeola’s project record and said the senator was expected to give them attention.

Adebayo also said the traders were already included in Adeola’s empowerment network. He described the women and traders as a key grassroots support group, adding that their main request was wider access to the programme and that this had been noted.
