Ogun PDP Candidate Kolapo Assures Opponents of Support After 2027 Victory

Ogun State PDP deputy-governorship candidate Kolapo has told opposition supporters not to panic over what she described as their approaching defeat in the 2027 election, promising that they would still receive support after the party’s victory.

What happened at the party meeting

  1. Kolapo made the remarks at a meeting of the PDP’s Ijemo Zone in Ward 5, Abeokuta South, where more than 1,000 party members gathered alongside senior leaders and other stakeholders from the constituency.
  2. She said opposition parties had legitimate reasons to worry about losing, arguing that politics in Ogun had moved beyond the narrow personal interests she said had caused prolonged hardship for residents.
  3. Kolapo, who holds the traditional and religious titles of Iya Sunnah of Egbaland and Ameerah of Ogun State, said opposition members would not be discarded or left without assistance if the PDP took power.
  4. She said members of the opposition understood the reality of the political situation but were moving from place to place to defend their financial interests. Even after the PDP defeated them at the ballot box, she said, they would remain able to provide for themselves.
  5. Kolapo added that political differences would not be allowed to destroy relationships among Ogun’s sons and daughters. She said those presenting outside interests to opposition supporters for personal financial gain would eventually abandon them, while the PDP would remain available to them.
  6. She also said her acceptance in Egbaland and throughout Ogun State existed before she entered politics, maintaining that the wellbeing of her community had always been her principal concern.

Party campaign appeals for stronger mobilisation

PDP Deputy State Chairman in Ogun, Biodun Ogunremi, asked party members to expand their door-to-door campaign and awareness efforts in order to increase the party’s winning margin in the 2027 polls.

Ogunremi said residents were exhausted by hardship and had aligned themselves with the PDP. He pointed to the presence of the Deputy Governor and Senator Iyabo Obasanjo in Ogun Central as a source of concern for the opposition, adding that many political stakeholders recognised the PDP’s commitment to the welfare of the state’s indigenous population.

High Chief Mustapha Owolabi, Director-General of the PDP Campaign Council in Ogun, declared that the 2027 contest was effectively settled. He said voters in Ogun Central and across the state understood the situation and would refuse to accept anything less than what they deserved.

The gathering was marked by a strong show of support from residents of Ijemo, which the party said reflected its grassroots organisation and growing acceptance in Ogun ahead of the 2027 election.

The page’s navigation identified the report as the newer item, repeating the headline that urged opponents not to fear defeat and promised them welfare after the election; it also contained an “Older” entry.
