Political organisers met in Abeokuta on Wednesday to discuss cooperation between Zee1 for Yayi and the APC Youth League, with the aim of mobilising young voters across Ogun State behind Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s governorship bid and other All Progressives Congress candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Youth mobilisation plans
- The meeting examined potential joint activities between Zee1 for Yayi and the APC Youth League, particularly efforts to build youth support throughout Ogun State for Adeola, widely known as Yayi, as well as other APC aspirants and candidates.
- Ambassador Ibrahim, a participant in youth-based political mobilisation efforts, called for stronger alliances involving youth groups, political actors and community-level organisers. He said such cooperation was needed to increase young people’s involvement in political affairs.
- He said young voters could play a decisive role in election results, arguing that the coalition’s goals for 2027 would depend on effective engagement, trustworthy messaging and sustained outreach at the grassroots.
- Ibrahim said Zee1 for Yayi intended to use its organisational network, communications channels and mobilisation methods to encourage young people to take part in politics and support Adeola’s campaign for governor.
“Young people have tremendous capacity to shape Ogun State’s future,” Ibrahim said. “There must be a coordinated effort that unites them, responds to their concerns and supports meaningful participation in democracy. Working together, we can establish a stronger youth movement before 2027.”
Grassroots engagement across Ogun
- The governor’s Special Assistant also took part in talks on youth-centred projects and joint programmes that could expand political involvement while opening opportunities for young residents across the state.
- Participants considered the need for continuing community outreach, clear communication and strategic relationship-building to connect with young voters in each of Ogun State’s 20 local government areas.
- Both sides said well-organised youth networks could help increase political awareness and motivate greater participation in elections.
- Ibrahim said he was hopeful that deeper collaboration with the APC Youth League and other stakeholders would create a more coordinated framework for youth mobilisation in support of Adeola’s governorship ambition.
- He added that a lasting political movement would require cohesion, focused leadership and regular contact with young people in their local communities.
