YM4YAYI Distributes Farm Equipment, Safety Helmets Across Ogun Waterside

A grassroots empowerment programme held on Friday, September 19, 2026, distributed farm equipment to farmers and safety helmets to motorists across Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

Organised by YM4YAYI, the exercise was intended to support livelihoods, assist hardworking residents and deliver practical help directly to communities. Beneficiaries came from all 10 wards, making the initiative local-government-wide rather than limited to one area.

Quick facts

  • Organiser: YM4YAYI
  • Location: Ogun Waterside Local Government Area
  • Date: Friday, September 19, 2026
  • Coverage: Wards 1 to 10
  • Main support: Farm equipment for farmers and helmets for motorists
  • Convener: Comr. Adigun Uthman
  • Movement linked to Senator Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi

Farmers formed a major part of the beneficiary group, receiving equipment to help with cultivation, food production and household earnings. Motorists, including commercial and private operators, were given helmets as part of an effort to promote safer road use.

Residents, community leaders, stakeholders, beneficiaries and supporters attended the distribution and took part in the event.

YM4YAYI Convener Comr. Adigun Uthman said the programme reflected the movement’s view that genuine development must reach people at the grassroots.

He said empowerment should be more than a political or social talking point. In his view, it should provide practical assistance that makes a direct difference to the daily lives of ordinary residents.

Uthman said the exercise was planned after identifying practical needs among people in Ogun Waterside and was intended to address those needs through direct intervention.

The farm-equipment distribution focused especially on farmers, whose work remains vital to the local economy and supports the livelihoods of many families in the area.

The helmet distribution had a dual purpose: improving road safety and recognising the role of transport workers in linking communities and sustaining economic activity across the local government.

Organisers said the decision to cover every ward was intentional. Grassroots development, they argued, should be inclusive and should not be restricted to selected communities.

The arrangement brought the programme closer to residents in different parts of Ogun Waterside and enabled people from across the local government to participate.

The YM4YAYI team thanked the Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government for his support. It also acknowledged the community leaders, stakeholders and residents who helped make the exercise possible.

Organisers said the level of attendance showed the value of programmes that engage communities directly and respond to residents’ needs.

They also credited Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayi, saying his leadership and commitment to grassroots engagement and development remain central to YM4YAYI’s work.

The exercise was presented as part of a wider mobilisation effort designed to strengthen links between leaders and communities while giving residents practical support.

YM4YAYI said it did not want to focus only on political meetings. The movement plans to continue backing initiatives in agriculture, transportation, youth development and broader community empowerment.

For those who received the items, the farm equipment and helmets offered assistance with everyday economic work and personal safety.

Organisers said lasting development depends on sustained contact with communities and a clear understanding of the problems faced by people at the grassroots.

The Ogun Waterside event also gave residents and stakeholders from all 10 wards an opportunity to meet, participate and deepen engagement at community level.

The movement said the programme would not be a one-time activity and that YM4YAYI intended to extend similar empowerment efforts to more communities across Ogun State.

Uthman and other YM4YAYI members restated their commitment to grassroots engagement, empowerment and community development.

The event closed with thanks to the beneficiaries, stakeholders, community leaders and supporters who attended and contributed to its success.

For YM4YAYI, the Ogun Waterside exercise was a practical expression of its grassroots philosophy: bringing assistance closer to residents, strengthening livelihoods and helping build stronger communities.
