The media personality who’s currently abroad on a radio hiatus and embarking on global masterclasses around the US and UK in order to help season her as a broadcaster and to reimagine her show ‘Anele And The Club’ is definitely merging work and play perfectly.
A few days ago Anele and Alakhe were seen on Nigerian superstar Burna Boy’s Instagram accounting with over 10 Million global followers with Alakhe even scoring a picture with the international Afrobeats superstar ahead of his second interview with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show. They have since been enjoying their work holiday in the US.
This morning, Phil Mphela shared on Twitter that Anele has signed a 5-year contract with Primedia Broadcasting, a huge feat for a South African media personality in an industry where employees are hired on short-term freelance basis and sometimes on pro-rated contracts. Phil wrote in his caption, “Anele signs historic deal. 947 has announced that Anele Mdoda has signed a five-year contract with Primedia Broadcasting. Huge achievement given how the industry is littered with short-term contracts. Anele returns from her break on July 1st.”The radio broadcaster has been with the station for two decades now and continues to speak well of how it is home for her. She shared in a media statement, “2022 is my 20th anniversary as a broadcaster. I have been with the company for 14 years, and Primedia formed part of my personal and professional growth. They are like family to me," she said in a press statement.”
Primedia Broadcasting's chairman, Phumzile Langeni, said they were privileged to have their CEO's "clear and compelling vision" following this contract. "At Primedia, it is all about validating our people. When our people succeed, we succeed. There is much more that we need to still see from Anele," she said
Fans and followers on Twitter started sending congratulatory messages to the broadcaster but many were more excited by her holiday and parenting style with her son Alakhe.
One user wrote, “What Anele is doing for her son is phenomenal to watch. Alakhe is not gonna wake up one day and just be successful. His exposure will have played a fundamental role. People underestimate the power of exposure at a young age. kudos to Anele and her social capital.”Another one also expressed, “Anele Mdoda's style of parenting continues to amaze me because her child is literally living his best life and is exposed to a wide range of experiences. It's fantastic.”Anele makes her anticipated return to radio on July 1st, and in the interim, Thando Thabethe is taking care of things on the 947 Breakfast show, Anele and The Club.
